If you argue politics on facebook, as in Right vs. Left or Cons vs. Libs, you are automatically wrong. If that cannot accept that, then you are wasting your time and everyone else's. Arguing Republican vs Democrat is the equivalent of arguing that a rapist is better than a murderer. Each side has its pro's and cons and the lines have never been more blurred than they are right now.
I often wonder if the political party system is still in existence just because of the division it causes among the American people, because if we are divided, then we are weak. You go into a bar alone and start talking shit, you'll probably get your ass kicked into your throat (and ass-throat is a very uncomfortable condition). Yet, if you go in with a group and talk shit, even if someone has the balls to respond, you and your posse' could shut them up in a minute. So, if the government wanted to be able to do what they wanted without being opposed, why not divide the people. Of course, now I'm sort of getting into conspiracy theory territory, but never deny the impossible (that's probably how Hitler managed to create mass genocide that required several other countries to put an end to).
Anyway, see if you fit in any of the following categories;
A) You re-post things on Facebook that point out President Obama's incompetence as a leader and the stupidity of those that support / vote for him.
B) You re-post things on Facebook that point out President Bush's incompetence as a leader and the stupidity of those that supported/ voted for him.
C) You make comments pointing out how stupid liberals are when it comes to guns, gays, and government.
D) You make comments pointing out how selfish conservatives are when it comes to guns, gays, and government.
E) You thank God for _________________
F) You make fun of people that thank God for __________________
The first thing I should point out is that you should not be living in America if you feel compelled to post comments on line like this. Your insults and amateur expertise are not only useless but actually hurt this country as much as any rotten politician. Why? Because it just divides us more and over what is really wild good chases.
Example facebook post; "Obama's Birth Certificate is fake. Here's a lot of words and a picture that I found at random on a conservative website. That means that it MUST all be true and I MUST re-post this so that other people will know the...truth...I will not research this any further though I have the entire fucking internet at my fingertips."
Problems; You are most likely not drenched in knowledge about forgeries or birth certificates (other than knowing you have one) or politics for that matter. Who are you to spread a possible truth without checking it out? If it is important enough to repost, it is important enough for you to spend another 15 minutes of your life to dig a little bit deeper and use your brain. This hurts the country because a lie spreads on facebook in the blink of an eye and everyone immediately believes it especially if it follows something they already believe.
If that lie were something more urgent or severe...well, here is a TRUE post that floated around for awhile.
"Becoming a Father or Mother Was The Greatest Gift of My Life is a Facebook group started by pedophiles to collect pictures of your children"
Problem: This was a lie that spread like the legs of a whore and the diseases that came from between them. There WAS a group by a similar title when Myspace was popular. It was created by a father of 2, not a group of pedophiles. This man eventually had to delete the group and remove his profile because all of the idiots that believed this post sought him out and attacked him relentlessly.
Imagine if this got around to someone that knew him personally and they decided to beat the shit out of him because they thought he was a pedophile. What if that had gotten to future employers?
RE-POSTING LIES or things that you have no real knowledge of is dangerous and irresponsible.
Now, for this online war regarding politics; you are fighting with and hating people for voicing an opinion?
Gun control; YOU, specifically, have no proof that the general population is better or worse off without guns being easily accessible. NO! STOP IT, DIP SHIT! You don't know for a fact, anything. We are not England. We are not Russia. We are not Sweden. What works for them or doesn't work for them, doesn't mean it will turn out the same for the US. So, since you don't know shit about what the US would be like with or without complete gun access, why would you fucking start hating someone else for feeling differently about the issue? It boils down to that "who the fuck are you?" situation because most of the people expressing the strongest opinions are people with no to moderate education and zero real knowledge about other countries. This applies to almost EVERY POLITICAL TOPIC that comes across facebook. We are getting angry with each other over opinions and false facts.
What are you doing? What's wrong with you? Want to help your cause? Go donate time and money to an organization or effort that is making the world a better place. Let your actions speak for you. That is what matters in the world.
Why do we do this?
To vent
To make others believe the way we do
To try and convince people we are smart or right
WANT TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE:
*Stop expressing or forwarding your political opinions on facebook.
*Same goes for facts that you haven't bothered to research.
*Stop hating the other side of the political fence. You are no more or less intelligent than they are as a group. Get off your high horse.
